Why Work With an Advocate?
Our services include special education advocacy. We review records, prepare families for meetings, and attend IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings to help ensure compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
We work to ensure that children with disabilities receive a FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) and that their educational rights are protected. We advocate for appropriate services, inclusive placements when appropriate, and access to the resources students need to succeed.
We have supported families of students with a wide range of disabilities, including but not limited to:

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Intellectual Disabilities
Other Health Impairments, including medical conditions and anxiety
Specific Learning Disabilities, including dyslexia and dyscalculia

About Felix Ramos
I have always believed that families deserve to be heard, understood, and respected in their child’s education. As a bilingual educational interpreter and special education advocate, my work centers on ensuring parents never feel lost, unheard, or unsure during important school meetings.
Over the years, I have interpreted in hundreds of ARD, IEP, and 504 meetings. In those rooms, I have seen how overwhelming the special education process can feel and how often families struggle — not because they do not care, but because the system is complex and communication can break down. My role is to ensure language is never a barrier and that parents fully understand what is being discussed so they can participate with confidence.
I earned my degree in Spanish with a concentration in interpreting and translation from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. My training and experience in language access allow me to bridge communication between families and schools, but my commitment goes beyond interpretation. I also trained as a special education advocate through COPAA, completing SEAT 1, SEAT 2, and The Business of Special Education Advocacy, and I continue my studies in special education law to better support families.
I am an active member of NAETISL, COPAA, and TOPAA and served on the national team that helped develop the first pilot certification exam for bilingual educational interpreters. I also co-authored the NAETISL Educational Terminology Glossary, resources created to strengthen the field and support future interpreters.
Whether I am interpreting a meeting, leading a bilingual workshop, or standing beside parents as an advocate, my goal is always the same: to help families understand their options, feel supported, and make informed decisions for their child. Families across the Rio Grande Valley trust me not only for my professional experience, but because they know I am committed to fairness, clarity, and ensuring every child has access to the education they deserve.
